1962-63 Rangers
Nathan Hale
basketballers climaxed a great season by competing in the State
Tournament in Oklahoma City.
Claiming the first Oklahoma Seven
Conference basketball crown,
and compiling a record of fifteen wins and only five losses, the
best in the school's history,
the Rangers emerged as the city's
top team.
Ranger fans
had many tense, thrilling moments during the season as the team
proved its ability to win the tough games. This was
evidenced by a heart-pounding one point decision over Oklahoma
Seven contender, Central, and by a great effort which topped
league leader Muskogee, gaining a tie for the loop leader at
that time.
Hale's stellar
guards, Gary
Moore and
Jim Linn, were honored on the
all-city and all-conference teams of the Tulsa World, at the end
of the season.
Coach Woody
West will have seven returning lettermen including Linn, and
guard Ray Zuniga,
and with a fine group of sophomores this years, the Rangers
should be touch again in '64.
