Danna Lee Howard-Knapp, the daughter of Dan and Betty Jo Howard, was born in Odessa, TX on 31 January 1963.  She was raised in Tulsa, OK and was a member of the Garnett Road Church of Christ.  Danna attended John Paul Jones Elementary School, Eli Whitney Junior High School, and then graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1981.

Following graduation, Danna worked as a Bank Teller at the Tulsa Federal Employees Credit Union.   In 1986, Danna moved to Bedford, TX, where she began work as a Flight Attendant for American Airlines.   In April 1987, Danna married Second Lieutenant Joseph Knapp, U.S. Marine Corps, in Manassas, VA, and the couple soon moved to Jacksonville, NC.   While enroute to Tulsa on 23 December 1988, Danna was killed in an automobile accident near Cookeville, TN.

Danna’s funeral services were held at East Side Christian Church and she was interred at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.  Danna was predeceased by her mother, Betty Jo Howard.  She was survived by her husband, Joseph Knapp (Class of ‘80); her father, Dan Howard; her brother, Robert Howard (Class of ‘76); and her sister, Kym (Class of ‘83).

from Eddy Wells...

I heard today that an old friend of mine, Lee Houston has died.  Wow, I'm floored.  I haven't seen Lee in years, but man, it still hits home.  I remember he lived in Johanson Acres (when I was a kid I thought that was where all the rich people lived).  I remember his house backed up to the wall that surrounded the Ma-Hu (pronounced may-hue, but we all called it ma-who) Mansion.  I remember he had a huge, slobbering, St. Bernard but I don't remember it's name.  I remember jumping on his giant trampoline and riding his cool motorcycle.

You know I have a confession to make.  I have always said that 'Wipe Out' was the first rock and roll song I learned to play.  Well, not exactly.  It was the first song I learned to play the whole way through, but before I even owned a guitar Lee showed me how to bang out the intro to (you guessed it) 'Smoke On The Water' using only the E (top) string.  I guess as much as I hate to conform or hate to be like anyone else, I am exactly the same as 10 bazillion kids who pick up their friends guitar and were taught the 'Deep Purple' classic.  What a cool club to be in.  Thank you for that, Lee.

My thoughts are with all of Lee Houston's family and friends.

I hope this doesn't seem inappropriate, but it seems to be the only appropriate thing to me.

Lori Ann Potts-Whitaker-Benson, 44, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Born April 26, 1963 in Tulsa, to Jo Potts Fritz and Richard Dean Potts.

Lori bravely battled and survived a brain tumor and surgery, but suffered related complications. A devoted mother, homemaker and dear friend to all who knew her. She was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger; she made friends for life and was the glue that kept family members in touch with each other.

She loved cooking, trying new recipes and collecting antique dishware. A lifetime resident of Tulsa and graduate of Hale High School in 1981. Lori was a Business Development Officer with Bank of Oklahoma until 2004.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Derrick, a son and his wife, a daughter, a stepson and his wife and their daughter, her parents, a sister and her husband, and two nephews.

On-line memory book at www.bixbyfuneralservice.com, Ultimate Tributes. Memorial Contribution checks should be made to the Sara Whitaker Education Fund in care of Bixby Funeral Service. Service 10 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2007, RiverCrest Chapel. Interment, Davenport Cemetery.                         Tulsa World, September 28, 2007

Tulsa World, February 10, 2005 - Mark Christopher Mueting, 42, passed on February 3, 2005, Tulsa, OK.  Born August 8, 1962, Riverside, CA.  His love of the Arts led him into the field of decorating and design.  Works by him have been displayed at the Philbrook Art Museum.  He was a member of the 2000 Coral Choir, a lover of nature, rainstorms, beauty of falling snow and the tranquility of sunsets.  He is survived by his mother, father, brother, sister, maternal grandmother, niece and many other loving and supportive family and friends.  He was preceded in death by twin brothers.

Mary Lane was diagnosed with leukemia the summer after she graduated from Hale. The disease appeared suddenly and took her life even more suddenly. She lived just a little over 2 months after the diagnosis. She had planned to attend OSU in the fall but on August 8, 1981 she lost her battle with the disease.  Mary was my best friend for as long as I could remember.  We were inseparable.  I miss her just as much today as I did on Aug 9th, 1981.  I love you Mary!!
