It
was so much fun to have the 2007 Miss
Nathan Hale,
Kaitlin Ferguson, with us during the 2007 Boo Ha Ha parade.
Kaitlin is the daughter of Patti Wallace-Ferguson.
Thanks
also to TOM DITTUS,
Class of 76, who joined us to serve as Kaitlin's escort.

Over the summer,
TCTA
(Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association) experienced some important
personnel changes. Patti Wallace-Ferguson, was appointed the
new Vice-President by the TCTA Board of Directors.
Patti goes to the TCTA office after spending the last
16 years at Hale High School where she taught English, Arts
Alive, Drama, and Speech. |
|
She is a kindergarten-through-graduation products of
Tulsa Public Schools. She attended MacArthur, Whitney, and Hale. She
will be at the TCTA office full-time to assist members with their
questions and concerns.
Ed note: We hate to see Hale lose such a great teacher, but
Patti said that it was an opportunity
to work for teachers
full-time, and she just
couldn't pass that up. |

Brian Harwell's nearly 30-year radio
career (as Brian Kane) started in the Tulsa area, first at KOKL/Okmulgee.
Soon thereafter he was on air at KELI ("14K/92K") at a time when the MTV
style of music was popular. Brian was part of their morning team, host of
the station's weekly countdown show, was acting news director for a time,
and participated in wacky promotions that included throwing cash out of a
helicopter onto listener's homes. |
 |
|
He might be remembered as
the DJ stuck in the studio over 15 straight hours during a huge flood near
the Skelly Drive studios. Stranded
motorists took shelter in the building. Brian passed out station
T-shirts to dry a few people off, and kept the music going.
Brian then headed to Ft. Smith, Arkansas, landing an
evening spot on KZBB-FM ("B98"). Two years later marriage forced a move
that took him to legendary Dallas, Texas powerhouse KPLX-FM. For the
next eight years, he worked on the air and as a helicopter traffic
reporter.
He's worked in News, Talk, and Sports radio at
Dallas' KLIF, KTCK and KRLD. But his real love remains with music
radio.
Now single, living in Dallas and working for
Disney/ABC Radio Networks' 24-hour Adult Contemporary radio network -
www.hitsandfavorites.com,
he DJ's an evening music request/dedication show (7p-12m CT) heard on well
over 100 radio stations throughout the US and Caribbean. The closest
affiliates to Tulsa are KZBQ/Lawton, OK; KRWA/Ft. Smith, AR; KILX/Mena,
AR; KMCR/Montgomery City, MO; and KCAY/Russell, KS.
Brian is the creator and owner of several
music/broadcast related websites. He sold DJ.net for a record amount
in 2002 to a multinational organization.
He still visits Tulsa from time to time to see
his sister Kelly Manion-Harwell (Class of '84) and nieces and nephew. |
