Linda R. Scott

She didn't die famous or really didn't
have any major accomplishments, but she was pretty awesome. The
best mother ever. She married my father, who was in the army,
right after high school. I was born in Tulsa. We moved to Findlay, Ohio
where my dad was an aircraft mechanic for Marathon Oil Company. I had
two other sisters, and mom did everything for us girls.
She was pretty talented in sewing, in
fact, she designed many costumes used for theater performances and
commercials. My family moved to Houston, TX back in 1984. Things
kind of fell apart down there. She stayed with my father until my
youngest sister was out on her own...always looking out for us girls,
doing whatever she could to make us happy, putting her own happiness on
the shelf. She was great mother, and then became the best
grandmother. She re-married in 1993, and was so happy. She had finally
found happiness for herself.
The next part of the story is somewhat
tragic. I will start by saying that no matter how old my sisters
and I were, my mother was always there to look over us... and that is
how she died. She died August 1, 1995 in Conroe TX, trying to protect
the life of my sister, who was in an abusive marriage. My sister was
leaving her husband, and my mother, step-father and sister went over one
evening to collect some personal items. My brother-in-law was waiting
for them, and took the lives of all three that evening. My mom is laid
to rest in Garwood, TX by an old catholic church with a little school
right behind the cemetery. When you close your eyes you can hear the
voices of little children playing. It is good place for her to be
at rest.
